A Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) is a tax-free account, established by an employer with a business of any size and is setup to help employees pay for eligible health care expenses that are not covered through the health insurance plan.
Employees cannot contribute money to this account; only the employer can credit the HRA on behalf of the employees. If the employee’s HRA has a balance at the end of the year, a portion or the entire unused amount may be rolled over to the next year for future health care expenses not reimbursed by a health plan.
